My snow trip

After one year’s waiting, here comes my snow trip. This time I will spend 5 days for this, from Monday to Friday.
On Monday I caught the coach at 1100 at Parramatta rail station. It took me all the way to Canberra . We had dinner in a Chinese all you can eat restaurant. It’s not too bad. I ate a lot of cold prawns. They’re quite nice.
It was not really too cold in Canberra , a few degrees, I guess. The most amazing thing was that this meal was included in the tour fee. After dinner we were on the way to Cooma where we hired our snow gears. Since last snow trip, I have given up skiing but doing snow boarding instead. I hired a board, a helmet and a pair of board boots. Thankyou 106 bucks, that what I paid.

We arrived the hostel at about 1100 at night. This hostel is build for horse riding sports. So we can see staples. If anyone who is interested in playing with horses, they can organise it for you. I shared a room with a16 years old boy, Keith. He came here for his snow trip. He came from HK.

Thinking of not going to work tomorrow, I had a very good sleep. 一宿無話.

Hay mate, its play time. I woke up at 0600. Getting all the routines done, I went to the dinning hall to have my breakfast, Aussie breakfast of course. Getting everything ready we’re heading to the snow field, Perisher.

Unfortunately the weather isn’t too good. It was misery and even rained occasionally.

I paid 103 for the day pass. I put on gears, then stepped onto the snow. Hoped on the chairlift, it took me to the top of the slope. I tried to reuse the skills what I learnt last year. Here I come, I said to myself, hopefully it would activate the right muscles to do the job. Eventually I was on the foot of the slope, after at least 8(?) falls.
I kept doing this up hill down hill. I can definitely tell which muscle groups were working. Since it was in the school break up period, it was a long queue at the chairlift station. I’ve done about 6 times up and down, it was already lunch time.

I got a chicken burger as my lunch, and then quickly I went back to the up and down hill game.

I had lots of PK falls backward and forward. I had muscle soreness. I had cramped leg muscles… yet eventually my muscles were awakened. My skill was back.

I had to return to the tour coach by 4pm, so I packed up and left the snowfield.

How lucky I am. My dear wife brought me new snow jacket and pants. Although it was raining, not heavily, all day, I was still pretty dry and warm.

Returned to the hostel, I had a good hot shower and then had a hot pot dinner 打邊爐, and then went to bed. Did I have a good sleep? You say it. 一宿無話

To day we went to Thredbo. In the morning the tour leader said that he was told that the two main snowfields were raining heavily. It definitely was a bad news, for the rain will melt the snow and make the surface harder, not to mention that you will be all wet from the top to the bottom. As we arrived to Thredbo snowfield, heaven, you guess what. It……snowed, but not rained, very heavily. I quickly put on gears then dashed to the snow to play the up and down hill game again.

It was really fun. It was because of the snow on one hand, on the other, I had some progress in my technique. I am very happy with this.

I didn’t have my lunch but keep playing until 2.30pm. I must return to the tour coach by that time, since the rest of the group would be finished today and went back to Sydney asap. So I finished my game by 2pm, got a cup of hot chip, and then went back to the coach. In the afternoon I was transferred to another hostel and wait for another group to come. They will arrive here at night time.

Other than the trip, I must drop a few words about this tour leader. He talked English, but he could never make a complete sentence. He talked English with Chinese words in it. He talked Mandarin, it’s just like how 曹仁超 talking in mandarin. It was totally a joke. I must say that I am so lucky that I have such a chance to come across this. This definitely can only be happened once in your life. However, to be fair, he did try his very best to get his job done. But….anyway.

In the next blog, I will tell you what is going on tomorrow.
